Sitting in his office was torture. Why had she done that? What was she thinking giving him her panties? Wendy thought she had decided to back off with the physical stuff not do more!

She could only blame it on her damn pride. The way he laughed at her when he found her gaping at his deliciousness, she just couldn’t help herself. Now she was regretting ever going back for her clothes, tight ass or not.

Her mind wandered back to his face when she had left him, he had been shocked, of course, but something in his eyes was so feral, she knew she would pay for teasing him so. It made her wonder what he had done when she left.

Did he toss them in the trash or maybe he pressed them to his nose, inhaling her scent. She had to admit the thought of it made her ache with need.

Shaking her head, Wendy tried to focus on the case and not the distracting captain. Waiting for him to come back and to put her out of her misery was driving her wild. The inpatient half of her was begging her to go see what was taking so long, but the horny part of her was just looking for an excuse to see him naked again.

Luckily, before she could convince herself one way or the other, the office door opened and James stepped in. He was fully clothed, seeming to have taken a cue from her by wearing a t-shirt and pajama pants. His hair was still wet from his bath, causing some of his shirt to stick to him where the water had slid down into it.

Wendy licked her lips but stopped when James’ eyes zeroed in on the movement. Stop antagonizing him, Wendy. Business first. He might be a serial killer, remember? That thought firmly put her libido in check but just barely. If he had come in without a shirt on all bets would have been off — as well as her pants.

Hands in his pockets, James strode over to his desk and took a seat, a small smirk playing on his lips. “So, where should we get started?”

Wanting to knock the grin off of his face, Wendy went right for the balls. “How about we start with why you’re a wanted man? Then we can decide if you being part of this case is really beneficial for either one of us?”

His dark eyes narrowed on her, the intensity in his gaze hitting her at the core. That man would have made one hell of a lawyer. She couldn’t see any jury being able to say no to him, Wendy was having a hard time herself.

Sitting up straight, she struggled not to let him see her squirm. “Well?”

“It’s not really a story I tell just anyone.” The curtness in his voice made her resolve waver just a bit, but she locked her eyes with his anyways.

“It’s a good thing I’m a lawyer then, isn’t it? I’m not just anyone, and I need to know, not just for my safety but because of the case.
